Analysts look for cyclical behavior in a security to account for an intermediate trend; that is, if a long-term bull market is observed, but with a fairly consistent series of reactions and rallies every few weeks, an analyst might view the intermediate trend as moderately bearish without detracting from the long-term bullish trend.
