Intergovernmental Conference(redirected from Intergovernment Conference)
Also called an IGC. An ad hoc committee formed periodically to amend the foundational treaties of the European Union. It consists of representatives of EU members, along with the European Commission. The European Parliament also participates. An intergovernmental conference is convoked at the behest of the European Council, which also meets at the conclusion of an IGC to work out any political problems. After the IGC, a treaty text is prepared and presented to member states for signature and ratification.
