Harmonized System

A nomenclature system for goods and services that countries import and export. The Harmonized System assigns numeric codes to goods and services. Participating countries are required to use this code when describing their tariff schedules. Nearly all international trade occurs under the Harmonized System. It was developed by the World Customs Organization.

In July 2014, the Federal Customs Administration of Switzerland and the Kyrgyz State Customs Service reached an agreement on the delivery of a three-week training course in September and October 2014 for seven instructors of the Kyrgyz Customs on applying the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (also known as the "Harmonized System"), an internationally standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products.
