Guyanese Dollar(redirected from Guyana dollar)
Also found in: Dictionary, Thesaurus, Wikipedia.
The currency of Guyana. Introduced in 1839, it was originally related to the Spanish dollar (which widely circulated in Caribbean colonies) and was intended to facilitate the transition from a currency based on the Dutch guilder to one based on the British pound. It was pegged to the pound until 1975.
