General Strike
1. A strike in which all or most workers in a city or region stop working. A general strike is not limited to one company and generally extends beyond a single industry. It is intended to show solidarity between all workers and may be a statement against capitalism as a system. General strikes were most common in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
