An information return that a lender files with the IRS each year to report mortgage credit certificates. A mortgage credit certificate is a security issued by a state or local government allowing holders to claim a tax credit on a portion of the interest they pay on their mortgages. This form keeps track of the total number and value of certificates that a lender applies to the mortgages it makes.
