Higher values of the total
erythrocyte count in males were in accordance with previous studies performed in capuchin monkeys (ROSNER et al., 1986; WIRZ et al., 2008), as in other nonhuman primates (RAHAMAN et al., 1975; JAIN, 1993; VIDEAN et al., 2008).
Positive correlations of RI with
erythrocyte counts ([rho] = +0.694; p = 0.026) and hemoglobin levels ([rho] = +0.702; p = 0.024) show that the lower RI values observed in this group are associated with lower red-cell counts, which would require a compensatory increase in local flow velocity.
In the absence of nutritional deficiency, as in Kim et al., [16] the 10% decrease in
erythrocyte count of adult female reverts back to comparable values of age-matched male after menopause and there is further decrease in
erythrocyte count proportionate to progesterone level during pregnancy which reverts back to nonpregnant levels after parturition.
Regardless of the order in which variables were entered into a stepwise multivariate regression, this analysis identified fasting glucose, MCH and age as predictors of Hb [A.sub.1c], discarding the variables sex, hemoglobin concentration, MCV, MCHC,
erythrocyte count, creatinine, and liver disease (although MCV was identified as a predictor if MCH was excluded from the analysis, in which case the influence of MCV on Hb [A.sub.1c] was similar to that of MCH when MCH was included); Hb [A.sub.1c] increased with fasting glucose and age, and decreased with increasing MCH (Table 3).
The haematocrit and
erythrocyte count found in this study for the water salinity levels of 0 and 7 g [L.sup.-1] were similar to the reference erythrogram values for Nile tilapia observed by Barros et al.
Present study revealed that
erythrocyte count, pack cell volume, hemoglobin concentration, serum total proteins, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration and mean corpuscular volume were significantly reduced, which indicated that fish were suffering from microcytic hypochromic anemia.
Despite the large amount of biological iron found in the spleen, there was no significant difference in
erythrocyte count between treatments after 21 days.
In our research, in the group of 8-week old rats (in group II or III) increases were noted in the
erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit.
Increases (P < 0.05) in
erythrocyte count, packed cell volume, and body weight were observed in P.
Hafeez et al, 2007, investigated the effect of mange on different blood and biochemical parameters in healthy and infected sheep and found that in mite infested animals, total
erythrocyte count (TEC), hemoglobin (Hb) and packed cell volume (PCV) was found to be lower, while erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and total serum proteins (TP) were higher as compared to healthy animals.
The blood sample were collected from jugular vein for measurements of total
erythrocyte count (TEC), hemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) and glutamic pyruvic transaminase (GPT).
