Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia

A commission established by the United Nations to foster economic and other cooperation among Arab states in the Middle East, along with Egypt and Sudan. It was founded in 1973 and is based in Beirut, Lebanon.

BEIRUT, (TAP)- The 28 th Ministerial Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is due from September 15 to 18 in Tunis under the banner "Challenges and Opportunities of Social Justice in the Arab Region."
