Eating Someone's Lunch
Informal; a situation in which a company uses aggressive marketing or other techniques to increase its own market share by decreasing the market share of one or more competitors. Eating someone's lunch is obviously beneficial for the aggressive company and detrimental for the competitor. Examples of eating someone's lunch include cutting prices and issuing flashier advertising. See also: Loss leader.
