earning assets in a rising interest rate scenario enabled the Bank to post a higher gross mark-up income by Rs.
Net interest margin, expressed as a percentage of average
earning assets, was 4.06% during the second quarter of 2019, compared to 4.12% (4.18% on a fully tax-equivalent basis, non-GAAP) during the first quarter of 2019 and 4.23% during the second quarter of 2018.
The increase in net interest income for both time periods in 2019 is the result of an increase in total
earning assets. Compared to the same time periods of 2018, total average
earning assets increased in the second quarter of 2019 by USD 16.7 million, or 1.6%, and increased by USD 8.6 million, or 0.8%, for the six-month time period.
