Data Universal Numerical System

More commonly called the DUNS system. A system developed by Dun & Bradford in which a business entity is assigned a unique, nine-digit number. The DUNS system is used by the United States government, the European Commission and the United Nations. It was introduced in 1963 to help organize Dun & Bradford's credit investigations.
