Data Protection Act, 1998
Data Protection Act, 1998a UK Act which contains provisions relating to accuracy access and confidentiality of information kept by businesses on their employees, suppliers, customers etc in the form of both computerized and paper-based files. To process personal data requires the explicit consent of the individual concerned, with individuals having rights of compensation if it can be shown their interests have been harmed by unauthorised recording and disclosure of personal details.
