An individual or firm licensed to represent an importer or exporter in front of customs authorities. A customs broker must ordinarily be authorized to act as such by the local government. The broker files the appropriate paperwork and helps ensure that the goods being imported comply with all applicable regulations. A customs broker is also called a customshouse broker, especially in the United States.
