Both physiological and morphological changes in the cartilage can be displayed simultaneously by the increased magnetic field power, and substantial increases can be observed in contrast resolution owing to the increased signal/noise ratio (1).
Some of these advantages include (1) greater penetration of dense materials such as dental fillings and medical devices than is possible with medical CT systems, (2) increased spatial and contrast resolution compared to medical CT systems, and (3) greater image quality than possible with medical CT systems or other 3D imaging methods.
SPECT MUGA adds further benefits by improving contrast resolution, decreasing camera time, improving accuracy of interpretation and the overall reliability of the study as compared to planar acquisition.
Due to its ability to display the anatomy of the sphincter muscles with good contrast resolution three-dimensional imaging capability and higher soft tissue resolution MRI has superseded fistulography computed tomography (CT) scan and endoanal ultrasonography and has the greatest concordance with clinical and surgical findings.8-12 MRI allows the classification of fistulous tracts and the identification of underlying infection.
A maximum value and minimum one of a scattered signal give a contrast resolution. Figure 3 shows CTF curves at six different levels of incident light intensities.
CBCT technology has limitations related to the "cone-beam" projection geometry, detector sensitivity, and contrast resolution that produces images with lack of clarity.
Advantages of multidetector CT (MDCT) are excellent spatial and contrast resolution, delineation of the exact borders of the lesions, detection of the surrounding tissue and organs state (local or distant metastases), and reproducibility and post-processing possibilities, like virtual imaging.
Zmek's rule of thumb states that subtracting the diameter of the obstruction from that of the primary mirror gives you the equivalent aperture of an unobstructed instrument when it comes to contrast resolution.
Both MUSICA software packages produced images with better contrast resolution than unprocessed images.
Quantum Technology offers image quality enhancements, including improved contrast resolution, as well as new gray scale maps and new image pre-sets, making it easier to obtain the highest quality images.
MRI is considered to be superior to CT because of its better contrast resolution and non-ionizing nature.
Due to the lack of contrast resolution, the ability to differentiate one tissue type from another may be inferior to that of other imaging methods." By comparison, he describes the major alternative modalities as follows:
