Any standard writing used in a variety of documents. For example, boilerplate copy may be a paragraph about the history of a nonprofit that the nonprofit publishes on its website, grant applications, promotional literature and anywhere else that is relevant. Boilerplate copy is also used in contracts, so that the parties can make changes to standardized language rather than write new contracts from scratch.
