Basic Industry Multiplier
A ratio of the total population of an area to those persons employed in industrial positions. Because industrial jobs tend to have high pay, their existence tends to create service-oriented jobs like waiters and shop clerks. As a result, each new industrial job is thought to increase the total population of the area by the basic industry multiplier.
