Attorney's Letter

In an audit, a letter an accountant sends to a lawyer verifying the client's lawsuits. In order to assess the financial state of a company, the accountant needs an accurate picture of the lawsuits it is facing and any actual or potential judgments against it. The attorney's letter requests this information.

The court also held that the prisoner was afforded sufficient post-deprivation remedies to satisfy any due process concerns arising from the seizure of an attorneys letter that contained hair samples and, allegedly, two money orders, where the inmate did receive notice of a disciplinary hearing held under the prison regulation forbidding abuse of mail.
