## Median

In a data set, the value that half the data points fall below and half the data points fall above. It is used along with the mean; it is not as influenced by extreme values as the mean.

In this study, the 50th percentile of the mean daily maximum temperature from June to September for the past 10 years was used as the mean daily maximum temperature for these months.
