Austrian Schilling

The former currency of Austria. It was introduced in 1945 following World War II, replacing the German Reichsmark. Under the Bretton Woods system, the schilling was pegged to a currency basket, and after 1976 was tied to the Deutsche Mark. It ceased circulation in 2002 with the introduction of the euro.
