Warm-Up
(redirected from warmup)

Warm-Up
An act or skit before the recording of a television or radio show to make the audience comfortable and to make it more likely to respond well to the television or radio show as it is being recorded. A warm-up usually involves one or more persons from the show telling jokes, answering questions and explaining how the production works. Warm-ups are intended to make the live audience more responsive, which in turn makes the television or radio audience more responsive. This helps marketing because it helps increase the number of viewers or listeners, which allows the show to charge more for advertising.
