Unlisted Trading

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Encyclopedia 0.01 sec.
Unlisted trading
Trading in unlisted securities that occurs on an organized exchange to accommodate members. This practice is not permitted at the NYSE.

Over-the-Counter Market
Describing a security or trade that does not occur on an exchange. Very often, the OTC market includes securities that are very small and do not trade on an exchange because they do not meet market capitalization requirements. OTC securities may theoretically be traded informally (one may stand on a street corner and sell his/her stocks), but the term usually refers to securities traded through a dealer network.

unlisted trading
The trading of a security on the floor of an exchange when the security is not listed on that exchange. Unlisted trading occurs when members of an exchange wish to trade the security but the issuing company has not applied for listing. Unlisted trading requires approval of the SEC.

Currently, commercial property investors who use their property to carry out their business or lease it to an unlisted trading company can reduce their gain by taper relief - 50% after 12 months ownership and 75% after two years, hence a 10% effective tax rate.
Unlisted trading privileges, as the name implies, are rights that give a particular trading venue the privilege of trading a security in situations in which the issuer of the securities has not asked permission for its securities to be traded in that venue.
Additionally, NYSE Arca lists 85 ETNs, 242 Certificates, while trading all other eligible ETPs on an Unlisted Trading Privileges basis.
