1. A transaction involving the sale and purchase of a security.

2. In general, the buying and selling of goods and services.

We've been doing it for centuries! Starting with primitive humans trading clubs for animal hides, and eventually evolving into the magic that occurs on the floor of the NYSE. However, the basic elements haven't changed a bit - it still involves giving this to get that.


Trade
An oral (or electronic) transaction involving one party buying a security from another party. Once a trade is consummated, it is considered "done" or final. Settlement occurs 1-5 business days later.
