Rain Check
A receipt or verbal promise by a seller that if a product is out of stock potential buyers will be able to buy the same product at the current price when the seller receives the next shipment. This is important if the seller wishes to attract or retain the buyer's business; that is, the seller issues rain checks to discourage buyers from going to a competitor.
