a method for creating a change in an organization's ways of working that is neither gradual nor incremental. The described methodology seeks a jump in PRODUCTIVITY, usually using enabling technology and knowledge. The introduction of FLOW LINE production by Ford could be considered a step change from the previous batch method of working, as could the introduction of CAD, CAM into what was previously a craft machine shop.
