statistical quality control

an aspect of QUALITY CONTROL which involves inspecting and testing a sample of a raw material, component or product in order to make inferences about the quality of all the output of that material, component or product. Where inspection and testing involves destruction of the product, statistical quality control based on sampling is the only means of monitoring quality.
