Stag

Speculator who buys and sells stocks to hold for short intervals to make quick profits.

Stag

Informal; an investor who buys a new issue of a security and sells it very quickly in order to make a profit. A stag makes the bet that the price of a new issue will rapidly rise, at least for the first few hours or days. His/her investment philosophy is the exact opposite of a buy and hold strategy.

stag

a person who subscribes for a new SHARE ISSUE by applying for a large number of shares in the hope that the demand for new shares exceeds the number being issued and that this will lead to an increase in the share price when they are first transacted on the STOCK MARKET. Stags are speculators who buy shares to make a quick profit rather than as long-term investors.

stag

a SPECULATOR in fixed-price new SHARE ISSUES who subscribes for large numbers of shares in anticipation of OVERSUBSCRIPTION and a rapid rise in the share price once dealings commence. This enables him to sell his shares for a quick profit.
