Scalp To hold a position for a very short period of time and receive a small gain. For example, a trader who buys and instantly sells a security hoping to profit from the bid-ask spread is said to scalp that security. A scalper hopes that the series of small gains over the course of the trading day will result in a much larger gain. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
