Scale order
Order to buy (sell) a security that specifies the total amount to be bought (sold) and the amount to be bought (sold) at successively decreasing (increasing) price intervals; often placed in order to average the price.

scale order
A specialized brokerage order that requests multiple executions at varying prices for the same security; for example, when an investor who wishes to liquidate a security position in a rising market spaces orders to sell specified numbers of shares at half-point price intervals.
