A government agency or an appointed group of citizens with varying degrees of responsibility regarding the use of land within a jurisdictional limit.Some commissions have the authority to make decisions regarding permitted uses and variances from permitted uses. Some commissions are merely advisory in order to provide citizen input into the process. The authorizations and the delegations of authority for a particular commission will determine the extent of its powers.
