Pipeline
The underwriting process that must be completed with the SEC before a security can be offering for sale to the public.

Pipeline
1. Informal; the process by which a company or underwriter conducts all due diligence, files all necessary paperwork, and generally makes preparation for a new issue. The pipeline especially refers to abiding by regulations issued by the SEC.

2. More broadly, any activity or project that is in the preparatory stages.

pipeline
The process through which security issues pass before their distribution to the public. If securities are being readied for distribution, they are said to be in the pipeline.

pipeline

For example,“There are over 10,000 condo units in the pipeline, in various stages of construction or conversion.” Or “I'm not worried about apartment move-outs this summer because I have a number of prospects in the pipeline.”
