Nearby The nearest active trading month of a financial or commodity futures market. Related: Deferred futures. Current Delivery Among several different futures contracts, the one with the shortest maturity. For example, given three futures contracts, one expiring in March, one in June, and one in September, the current deliver is the one expiring in March. It is also called the nearby deliver.
