maturity structure

the distribution of future dates on which BILLS, BONDS and REDEEMABLE FINANCIAL SECURITIES are due to be redeemed. An investor may seek to have a ‘phased’ PORTFOLIO of such securities, which will generate a planned pattern of cash inflows as these various securities mature. Similarly, firms and governments will seek to have a phased portfolio of borrowings that will generate a planned pattern of cash outflows as these various borrowings become repayable. See FUNDING, PUBLIC SECTOR BORROWING REQUIREMENT, TERM STRUCTURE OF INTEREST RATES.
