The stocks that tend to dominate trading volume during a given period. Some people believe the quality of market leadership indicates future trends for market movement. For example, poor quality leadership (that is, leadership exhibited by low-priced, speculative stock) may indicate excessive speculation and forecast a major decline in stock prices. Also called leadership.
