Market analysis Market Analysis Research into data relating to the stability and profitability of businesses, especially to guide one's investing practices. Market analysis involves looking at financial statements to determine if a company is healthy or technical indicators to see if it is profitable in the short-term. Balance sheets are important to balance analysis as they provide a ready-made means of investigating performance. However, it is important to note that quantitative financial analysis has limits. For example, the accounting methods that a particular business employs may make it look healthier or less healthy than it really is. Market analysts attempt to see through this and arrive at a business' actual ability to make a profit for investors. See also: Fundamental Analysis, Technical Analysis, Investment Adviser.
