Lesotho Loti
The currency of Lesotho. It was issued in 1966 and began to circulate in 1980. It is pegged to the South African rand such that one is equal in value to the other. Both the rand and the loti are accepted in shops in Lesotho. Its plural is maloti.

Thereby, the Maloti Drakensberg Transfrontier Project study seeks to link an aspect of Perspective 5 (a vision of increased water availability from the upper catchment) with Perspectives 1 to 3.
Sentebale promised us 515,000 maloti (30,000 pounds) but I would now accept just a few thousand pounds to install a pipe so we can have running water and to pay for food for two or three months.
It involves the construction of five dams, principally to transfer water from the Maloti mountains in eastern and central Lesotho to Gauteng Province in South Africa, as well as providing electricity to Lesotho.
