I remember how the smells were so awful during those early-morning inversion layers that I'd try to hold my breath on the short walk between where the bus dropped me and entering the building in which I worked.
We can't start backsliding to the old days of regular smog alerts, inversion layers that trapped bad air, and summer days when the air was so polluted it wasn't safe for kids to play outdoors.
