Institutionalization

The gradual domination of financial markets by institutional investors, as opposed to individual investors. This process has occurred throughout the industrialized world.

Institutionalization

A situation in which institutional investors come to provide the vast majority of liquidity in the market, to the point that it is difficult for individual investors to participate.
