Flat
Convertibles: Earning interest on the date of payment only.
General: Having neither a short nor a long position in a stock. Clean.
Market: Characterized by horizontal price movement, usually the result of low activity.
Equities: To execute without commission or markup.

1. Of, relating to, or being a market maker's inventory position that is neither long nor short; that is, the inventory is zero.
2. Of, relating to, or being a bond that trades without accrued interest. For example, bonds of a company in bankruptcy proceedings trade flat. A bond trading flat is indicated in bond transaction tables by the symbol f.

1. Describing a stock or other security that is neither rising nor falling in price.

2. In foreign exchange, having no position. That is, an investor is flat if he/she has neither bought nor short sold a given currency.

3. Describing a bond that trades without interest that has accumulated since the last coupon payment. It is fairly unusual for bonds to trade flat, as the buyer is normally expected to compensate the seller for the next coupon that the seller will no longer receive from the issuer. However, bonds in default trade flat.
