Peak-hour traffic between the Pearl Roundabout and the Diplomatic Area/Manama South exits is permanently in virtual gridlock, backing up all the feeder roads coming out of Manama itself.
Routine maintenance, periodic maintenance and rehabilitation on selected prioritized feeder road links in the state are to be done.
A far more sensible alternative would have been to build an inland motorway following the route of the old Roman road across the hills with feeder roads to the coast.
