E-Filing
The act or practice of filing necessary paperwork online or otherwise electronically. E-filing has become increasingly common with the advent of the Internet. Individuals may e-file their tax returns, for example. Likewise, corporations often e-file their SEC statements through EDGAR.

This method of tax filing is commonly known as e-filing or efile.
Members whose companies or clients are affected by the Internal Revenue Service's expanded mandatory e-filing program for corporations in 2007 will improve their understanding of and compliance with the program from a new AICPA PowerPoint presentation (available from the Tax Center; see Web page below).
The affected corporations and tax exempt organizations, software developers and tax practitioners will have to make significant process and technology changes in order to comply with mandatory e-filing requirements," Pflieger said.
