culvert A waterway for rainwater or other runoff;may be a ditch or a pipe.If ditches along the side of a road channel runoff,then property owners must install culverts under driveways in order to prevent the formation of dams. Others are reconfiguration of channels to improve geomorphic function, daylighting of culverted streams, acquisitions of floodplain land, and removal of flood prone structures. |
