Concave

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Medical, Encyclopedia, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
Concave
Property that a curve is below a straight line connecting two end points. If the curve falls above the straight line, it is called convex.

Concave
Describing a curve segment whose ends fall below an arbitrarily set straight line. Concave properties are important to charting; for example, when tracking a stock market's performance, a dip in the chart with respect to the previous day's close followed by a rally going up to but not necessarily meeting that close may be described as a concave curve.
