Calendar Year

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Legal, Acronyms, Encyclopedia, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
Calendar Year
The 12-month period between 1 January and 31 December. In the United States and many other places, the tax year, or the period of time during which annual taxes are calculated, is identical to the calendar year. An unusual number of trades often occur toward the end of the calendar year as investors seek to achieve the lowest, legal, tax liability. A company's fiscal year, or the period of time for which it creates its annual budget, may run for a different 12-month period.

Calendar Year
A year that begins January 1 and ends December 31.
