Buy In
To buy the same security a second time because the seller did not deliver in a timely manner the first time. In a buy in, the buyer informs the exchange of the delivery failure; if the second transaction is more expensive, the original seller must pay the difference.

The purchase by one broker of securities that another broker has failed to deliver on time.
