Bribe To give money or some other compensation to another party so that party will violate rules. For example, a restaurant owner may offer a bribe to a health inspector so he/she will overlook a restaurant's violation of the city's health code. Bribery is a crime and a form of corruption. It is possible (and in many places common) in both the government and the private sector. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
