Bill of Health

A certificate stating a ship or other vessel embarked from a place not known to have any contagious diseases or other illnesses that might harm public health. Bills of health are especially common on ships coming from a part of the world thought, correctly or incorrectly, to contain an unusually high number of communicable diseases.
