| Eight more had constitutional bans on the November ballot paper, of which seven were approved, and one (Arizona) was turned down with a very slim margin. Secretary of State Kevin Shelley has ordered 10 counties, including San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange counties, to use printers to keep a ballot paper trail. Prior to 1987, candidates were not identified by any party affiliation on the ballot paper (although since 1972, photographs have been used on the ballot paper wherever possible to identify the particular candidate for illiterate voters). |
