Assurance A branch of accounting that seeks to improve the quality of information to reduce business risk. Assurance extends beyond testing financial information; it seeks to fact-check even qualitative information on business practices. Unlike consulting, assurance is not predictive, but instead tests whether a business decision worked in the past. Examples of assurance include audits, customer satisfaction surveys, and IT reviews.
