Isovalent isomorphism of holmium ([Ho.sup.3+]) and
yttrium ([Y.sup.3+]) in oil and gas-bearing deposits, is most likely conditioned upon the thermodynamic conditions and the properties of Y and Ho, how strongly--the positive elements (cations) are to form complex compounds with negative anions of oil and gas hydrocarbons.

Zinc nitrate (Zn[(N[O.sub.3]).sub.2] x 6[H.sub.2]O),
yttrium nitrate Y[(N[O.sub.3]).sub.3]-6[H.sub.2]O, sodium sulphide ([Na.sub.2]S x 9[H.sub.2]O), EDTA-ethylenediamine, and all chemicals used in this work were of AR grade and used as received without further purification.
In experiments using cloned calcium ion channels in embryonic kidney cells, the researchers found that nickel and
yttrium, two metal catalysts used to form the single-walled carbon nanotubes, were interfering with the ion channel's ability to absorb the calcium.
Platinum,
yttrium and iridium plugs are more expensive than traditional plugs, but the coatings provide much better wear resistance and maintain their gap longer.
His efforts advanced the
yttrium barium copper oxide-coated conductor.
For producing condensed electric contact materials copper, molybdenum, and alloying elements (
yttrium and zirconium) were used as initial elements.
The Asian behemoth now supplies approximately 95 percent of the world's consumption of "rare earths," such as cerium, neodymium, lathanum,
yttrium, and dysprosium.
