Technically Weak Market

In technical analysis, a market that is falling on high volume or rising on low volume. Technical weakness or strength is important to determining a security's or market's momentum. Falling on high volume or rising on low volume means that it is likely that the security or market is on a bearish trend.

Used to describe a security or the whole market when technical indicators point toward a price decline. For example, small investors may step up odd-lot purchases of securities, the number of stocks hitting new highs may be small, and market volume on days the averages are rising may be light. Together these things indicate a technically weak stock market.
